May 26 LAB Network Meeting

For our last meeting, until we reconvene in August, we tried a new day and a new time. After polling all our guild participants as to what would be a more  favorable time to meet, it was clear that something in the middle of the week and in the early afternoon (EST) would work best. So we tried that. We met today, Wednesday, at 2p.

Today we covered

  • the fact that this would be our last meeting until August
  • the new meeting day and time
  • today’s agenda (interview, tutorial, and tips)
  • we prayed (asking God to attend to Rachael Abbott’s needs and her family’s needs as they say their good bye to her grandmother)
  • We then introduced Rafal Zielinski who has worked with us this year as a part of our Year One internship. We heard a little bit about of Rafal’s history up to the point in which he resides today, which a newly accepted staff member of our ministry. In the midst of his story is a unique quest he is in the midst of fulfilling which is a design a day. You can read more about that at his design blog.
  • Greg and Sara showed us how we can share a color palate from one CS program to another. Greg gave a RGB example and Sarah demonstrated a pantone exchange.

We closed out with tips. We looked at:

TNT for the Mac?

It is amazing that all this development went on without the CCC Mac community learning about it. This has been a wish and a dream, but most of us have not heard of any actual work being done on it. Well it has been announced that a tool is now in beta. See the announcement at the GCX web space.

Vision 360

For those of you working at our International Headquarters you have watched the building going on across from the entrance to our offices. Here is a video with a walk through and an explanation of the facilities.

Put Your Spokesperson Hat On

Happy July to all. Please put in your schedule to work on your task of being a spokesperson for our mission and your ministry. Affirm your partners and give them vision for the work ahead. Make sure you post your prayer letters as a pdf in your Google Docs and then share that document with the entire team. If for some reason you are not able to get a letter done this week, let us all know when you will, if you need help say so, and if there are specific ways we can join you in prayer let us know that as well. Personally I am going to have to really hustle to make tomorrows deadline. I will pray for you and I hope you will pray for me.

Don’t forget!

I failed to mention in our last meeting that in two weeks our update letters are to be ready and out the door by May 8. That means that this week you will want to gather your ideas as to what to share with your team partners to help them experience the journey of our mission. So be on your toes.

Also we have talked about spending a day with the Lord. A few have done this already and I am pleased. It is a great encouragement to me, and I am looking to follow them. Perhaps you are like me and your schedule is quite full for April. Due to previously scheduled commitments, and little time to adjust I won’t be able to take a whole day in April, but I will almost get two half days. If you are like me, do it, and if you can still get a day in do that. I believe God would be so pleased that you would show up for a day with Him. Also, plan your day in May while there is time to clear a whole day.

Remember the Worldwide Day of Prayer tomorrow.

I look forward to serving with you this week. Peace.

Team To Do’s

Thank you for a good team meeting. I appreciate your engagement. A special thanks to all that presented something. Here are few take aways from our meeting:

  • Pray for Anna and Tina as they travel (Anna in Texas, Tina in Fort Lauderdale mission conference), Ian and Sarah Burns as they find their team, and Dan as he connects with his team.
  • Send your personal ministry update to the Burns’ (theburnsatthelab@gmail.com)
  • Select your day with the Lord for April and May and put it in our LAB calendar
  • Be thinking about your next letter to your team due the first week of May (two weeks away)

Letters to our partners

This week as a team we seek to be intentional in communicating with our partners. You might think of it as reporting on your God-sightings in your life, family, team, work and/or mission. Carve out time to pray for your team and ask God what He would have you tell them that would encourage, stimulate and affirm their part in our mission. Remember to post your letter by Friday on the back side of the kiosk that currently displays other work we have done. Pray for me as I pray for you.

The Crisis of Credit

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0zEXdDO5JU

This video I am told inspired ITG to do a visual presentation of their giving report. I have also learned that creator of the ITG piece was Terry Daffron a Java programmer who is also a graphic designer.  I think he did a great job. However, I was really surprised to hear that he did it in one of the Apple’s iWork software tools called Keynote! Pretty neat huh?

Back to the Crisis of Credit video. This video represents another way to communicate with motion graphics. I think you would enjoy seeing it for the inspiration value, but also for the educational value. It helped me understand the economics woes we currently are experiencing.

ITG Creates Video

I was surprised by this. It is very well done and it comes from our friends upstairs. It is about a subject of interest to you and me as well. Please take a look.

This is another way I would love to serve our mission in presenting information and reporting.
