It is amazing that all this development went on without the CCC Mac community learning about it. This has been a wish and a dream, but most of us have not heard of any actual work being done on it. Well it has been announced that a tool is now in beta. See the announcement at the GCX web space.

Why did this development go on without the CCC Mac community learning out it?

Yeah, it is quite amazing that it was kept on the DL for so long! Maybe because most of us gave up on the thought that we would ever be able to effectively use TNT on our Macs (natively) without having to pay for extra programs in order to use the “free” software. And to think, I just started getting used to using my Excel sheets, random pieces of paper with notes on them, and various other places that I keep information in order to stay organized…but I very much look forward to adopting a new system! Thanks GCX!

Great question of which I don’t have an answer. It is a mystery to me as well.

1. I am a Mac user on staff. How do I become aware of and benefit from this “CCC Mac Community” which you speak of here in this post? For a couple of years I was on an ccc “Mac-users” email list. That ended a while back I thought. Is that the community you are talking about? If there is some type of loose network or even a formal community for Mac usrs, I think there are several staff out there who do not know about it. Including me.
2. The TnTMPD Community Help Site (http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/) has had quite a few discussions for many months regarding the work towards a Mac version of TntMPD. Work and ideas have been contributed by several individuals (CCC staff and non staff). See the Beta Testers Group on the site: http://www.tntware.com/tntmpd/groups/beta_testers/default.aspx
This is really Troy Wolbrink’s main communication channel. It is an open forum. I’ve found it very helpful.
3. I’m all up for more open communication. That’s one reason I posted the news in the GCX Help Center – even though TntMPD is not a topic that directly correlates with GCX Communities or GCX Projects. Tweetdeck has been a great tool for @gcxhelp to use – not to “push” news updates but more to listen to what is going on at the local level. But even tweeting about news such as a significant progress step such as – in this case – an experimental beta version of TntMPD which really works on Mac really helps open the communication flow. In what other ways can we quickly share relevant news with the field in a decentralized manner? Other ideas for collaborating? Other tools that help us “put our ear to the ground” as to what’s happening on the field?

There was a Facebook community for Mac users. I trust it is still there. I don’t get to FB frequently enough for that to be useful for me, but others may find this helpful. I was referring to the informal community of users when I said “Mac Community”.
The TNT community is a good thing, but since TNT has not been a Mac concern since its beginnings most Mac users don’t think to go there. Perhaps more will now.
I am not sure how to “up” the communication. Certainly the things you have done by posting your experience is a step toward greater communication. Thanks for doing that.
